Weekend Entrepreneurial Thought – Don't Worry, Be Happy

by Brian on January 31, 2009

After some pretty tough tradeshows this month I have to admit I was pretty demoralized.  I did a fraction of the business I expected to conduct, and well,  I lost money.  And yes, I am blame the poor economy for this.

But the world is not over! I know this is going to sound overly optimistic, and maybe I am writing this because it is Friday night and I have had a few glasses of wine, but there is so much opportunity out there right now despite a poor economy.  After all, the economy is made up of many independent businesses.  Many businesses will be started in 2009 and many businesses will grow.

So, my weekend entrepreneurial thought is:

Don’t Worry, Be Happy

I believe the power of happiness and positivity has the ability to trump the negative effects of a poor economy.  Overly optimistic? Yea, probably. But if anything, being happy makes you a better entrepreneur and person in general – which increases your chance for success in the long run.

Hey Brian,
Dont worry. I have this saying which is always true: “90% of the things we worry about never happen. So why worry?”

Right on Mike. I totally agree, we often worry far too much about what turns out to be nothing at all.
